This curriculum unit was developed for a kindergarten and 1st grade class taught by Ryan Gardener at Frank C. Martin K-8 Center. This curriculum unit was designed to introduce students to new musical genres and interact with them building off of basic-beat keeping and short song teaching. Inspired by the Dalcroze and Orff approach and the modern music landscape, “I Got Rhythm” has the goal of macrorhythm and instrumental understanding in mind to pave the way for rhythmic and melodic improvisation in later grades.
